This Spring, my family moved home after living away all winter. Now, I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not the best housekeeper in the world; but I was appalled by how dusty my house was after sitting empty for six months! I immediately pulled out our old vacuum, only to realize that it wasn’t really going to cut it; this job was way too big for an older, well-used vacuum. I started polling my friends online for vacuum suggestions and got an overwhelming majority voting for the Shark. I offered to put the Shark Rocket to the test! Now, I can’t imagine life without the Shark!
Here are 10 reasons why I think you need one too:
Works great on various surfaces, and the transition from rug/carpet to hardwood is a breeze
Some vacuums require you to actually change nozzles when switching between hardwood and carpet or rugs. With the Shark Rocket, all you need to do is change settings on the handle, which requires a simple slide with your finger while vacuuming. It immediately adapts to the new surface and continues to work like a charm.
Easily converts to a hand-held vacuum which is great for certain jobs, like stairs
Our stairs have always been a booger to keep clean. They’re wooden with stair treads and tend to get pretty dusty. In the past, I’ve had so many issues trying to clean them. Whether we’ve had a canister vacuum or an upright, none of them seem to have a long enough cord and/or hose to get the stairs done with ease. And, we only have an outlet at the bottom of the stairs (not at the top). So, I’d end up dragging a heavy vacuum from step to step, wondering why life had to be so difficult!
With the Shark Rocket, we simply pull off the hand-held part, attach one of the dusting heads and away we go. The cord is plenty long enough to reach the top of the steps too!
The compact size is easy to store
This vacuum looks (as is) a bit top-heavy is its normal vacuuming state. However, it’s easy to pull the top off, attach it to the bottom, and store it simply and in a small area. We have a small corner closet where we have always kept our vacuum, but the Rocket fits the best, by far.
An included accessory bag keeps all your extra vacuum tools together in one handy, easy-to-find location
I’m not sure why, but this bag makes me almost giddy with excitement. In the past, our vacuum attachments were laying all over the closet floor around the vacuum. And, it always seemed like when I wanted one, I couldn’t find it. This bag holds ALL the accessories and has a drawstring so I can hang it from a peg on the closet wall. Everything is easy to find because it’s all right there.
A swivel handle makes navigating all over the house simple
Some vacuums just aren’t made for easy navigation. The Shark Rocket, however, is! The swivel handle makes this vacuum the easiest one I’ve ever operated. Most of them don’t turn at all, so you (the operator) has to do the turning and swiveling. With the Shark, it goes where you want it to go.
The under-appliance wand makes cleaning those rarely-cleaned areas possible
Just being honest here, but the area under my stove gets cleaned …. oh, whenever I need to pull out the stove for something. And, that’s not often! When I saw the under-appliance wand that was included with the Rocket, I couldn’t believe me eyes. Seriously, why hasn’t someone thought of this before?!
Not only is it perfect for getting under your appliances, but it also works great for getting under pieces of furniture, like the couch, or an armoire or toybox. This attachment is worth its weight in gold and is probably one of the top reasons why I would recommend this vacuum to a friend!
Other accessories include tools for dusting, cleaning the furniture, and picking up that nasty pet hair that sticks to everything
Pet hair is a tough one. Fortunately, right now, we don’t have a dog that sheds much, but we do have occasional pet hair to clean up. The pet hair attachment works great and, like the main nozzle, has an easy to clean brush/roller. The dusting and upholstery attachments are also such handy tools to have.
The filters and brushes are very easy to access and clean
My 11-year-old son took right to the Shark. In fact, I couldn’t get an unboxing video like I had planned because he was pulling the pieces out much too quickly. He’s taken charge of making sure the filters are removed and cleaned on a very regular basis. I love how easy it is to access them and that he has taken on this task – it’s one less thing for this busy mom to remember!
Cleaning walls and ceilings is easy
Have you ever had spiders building webs along your ceilings? That’s so annoying! With the Shark Rocket, I can easily reach up to the ceiling and suck them right down! I don’t have to grab a broom or climb up on a chair with a rag anymore. I’m all about anything to make life a bit simpler!
And my favorite – the space-age design makes kids want to clean!
Like I said, Ian was as excited as I was when the package arrived on our doorstep. He took charge of opening it and inspecting every part and accessory. He read the directions and figured out how to set up the vacuum, use it, and store it. He’s in charge of cleaning the filters. And he knows which accessories are used for what purpose.
Before he wanted nothing to do with helping to sweep. Now, it’s become his job and he’s been able to take ownership of it. Honestly, this vacuum is so cool that sometimes we fight out it a little bit. (Maybe we should have gotten two!)
