As a blogger, I may be compensated in some way (either pay, product, or experience) for sharing the post below All opinions are my own. ~Heidi
I live in central PA and, quite often, find myself flying out of Harrisburg because it’s local and convenient. Of course, going this route really limits my choice of airlines. More often than not, I really don’t have a wide choice of times, let alone airlines. So, we take whatever we can get.
When I’m traveling with family or friends, though, I’m not opposed to driving a bit further to get to a larger airport with more options. Recently, when my husband and I were making plans to get to Orlando for our Disney Cruise, we chose to fly out of Baltimore. Not only were we able to get the flight times that we wanted, but the cost was a bit cheaper and the flight was direct. We really didn’t pay a whole lot of attention the airline – we ended up with JetBlue, which I had never flown with before.
Upon checking in the day before, I checked out this webpage and saw some of the features that were promised with JetBlue and, I must admit, I was skeptical. I mean, let’s face it, if you do much traveling, you know the seats on planes these days are not spacious and the snacks – if there even are any offered – are basically a joke.
Brian and I had an awesome experience! We both commented how much we were impressed with JetBlue. So, I wanted to share why we loved it and we’re pretty sure that you will to. . .
#1 – More spacious seats
I have to admit, I was really surprised by the spaciousness of the seats compared to other airlines. The website tells you to “enjoy the most legroom in coach,” and they aren’t kidding! And, not only are the seats more roomy but, when you board the planes, they have all the seatbelts laid out perfectly on each seat. It just felt like a nice welcome and an extra special touch.
#2 – Full-size snacks
Now, I’ll be the first to admit that, when I’m on a shorter flight, I can’t really blame the airlines for not feeding me. But, if they have time to come around with drink service, how hard is it to offer a pack of cookies or a bag of pretzels? JetBlue does them all one better, though, they come around with a HUGE basket filled with full-sized bags of snacks. On the way, I had a bag of blue chips that were really yummy, and decided to try the PopCORNers on the way home. Brian asked for Doritos and our flight attendant handed him two bags, saying, “Oh, there’s only like 6 chips per bag; take two!”
In addition to the snacks, I found them to be quite general with the drinks as well. I asked for “my usual” – the cranapple juice. Our flight attendant told me that they didn’t have that. But, then he came back and handed me a can of cranberry juice AND a can of apple juice and told me I could mix my own! Needless to say, I was impressed!
#3 – Free onboard wi-fi
They have this service called Fly-fi and it’s FREE! Every other airline I’ve ever flown has announced the need to turn off cell service and put my phone in airplane mode. Not so with JetBlue. I had service throughout the whole flight and was able to chat with friends and family on Facebook. I really appreciated the extra perk!
If that’s not enough, they also have screens on the backs of the seats and you can choose inflight entertainment such as DIRECTV and Sirius XM Radio. I don’t usually carry headphones, so this didn’t excite me. But, I loved that you could choose the channel that showed you exactly where you were! The screen changed and showed you how high you were, how fast you were traveling, and when you were expected to reach your destination. We’ve enjoyed this feature on overseas flights, but I’ve never seen it since, so it was another fun perk.
#4 – Load from back to front
Every. Single. Time. I board a plane, I always wonder (out loud) why they don’t board from back to front. Seriously, it’s not rocket science! It would be so much more efficient. And guess what? JetBlue does that! I wanted to stand up and cheer! (They don’t board by rows, but by groups of rows – but it’s still much more efficient than a typical airline, which boards in groups that make no sense!)
