Even if you don’t link up a friendship post this week, I would really like to know . . . what is one thing that you can plan to do for a special friend in your life this week? Some ideas are to drop a card in the mail (nobody sends mail anymore, and it’s such a lost art – and can be such a special treasure to the recipient), call him/her on the phone (again, lost art! I miss hearing my friend Sue’s voice on the phone and get almost giddy when the caller id tells me a friend is calling – not a telemarketer! Stop texting and talk, people!), or meet somewhere for coffee and a personal chat (there’s nothing better than face-to-face, if you can manage it.)
Please leave me a comment and let me know how you are celebrating your friendships. And, if you’re not celebrating those special people in your life called “friends”, then you are seriously missing out! Just sayin’ . . .
Now today I’d like to tell you about a special lady who entered my life about 13 months ago.
A few weeks ago, I shared my friend Kim with you. Kim entered my life as my mentor when I started working for 3D Travel Company. Over and over again this past year, I have thanked Carol Beth for setting me up with Kim!
You see, Carol Beth Scott is the owner of 3D Travel – and I owe her so much! Not only did she give me a chance to be a Disney Travel Agent (something my friends had been encouraging me to do for years), but she just really blessed my socks off with her kindness, compassion, and friendship through some difficult times in my life in late 2012 and early 2013.
Even though I didn’t last nearly as long in that job as I would have liked to (because God had other plans), I still consider Carol Beth a good friend! So, I was SO excited when I had the opportunity to enjoy a Disney trip with my kids in September – to take part in The Ultimate Field Trip and meet all my 3D Travel buddies!
If you’ve never visited Walt Disney World in September, let me tell you this – it’s HOT! But, when you’re surrounded by such great people and you’re at your happy place, the heat just really doesn’t matter!
I don’t get to chat with Carol Beth much anymore, since she’s not my boss! But, the other day, we had a chance to chat on FB for a little while; and I was reminded how much fun she is! Even though we were chatting via computer, I could “hear” her voice – always upbeat and cheery! As our conversation was winding down, she said “Is there anything I can do for you?” I told her that I was already working with Kim to help me plan my next Disney trip. Carol Beth replied, “I didn’t mean as an agent, I meant as a friend!” Wow!
Carol Beth is a busy lady – running her own travel agency – and she could have totally tossed me aside when I quit working for her. But, despite the fact that we hadn’t had time to talk in a few months, she still considers me her friend – and that seriously made my day!
Last week, when Ashley and I were going through our 2012 Disney pictures to select for our album, we got to the above picture of Carol Beth and me and Ashley said, “There’s Carol Beth! She’s just so cute!”
Ashley’s right – Carol Beth IS cute. Cute, and so much more. She’s gracious, compassionate, caring, loving, joyful (despite various hardships that she and her family have faced over the years), and she’s a great friend!
If you’d like to get to know my friend Carol Beth better, you can follow 3D Travel on Facebook, or you can visit Carol Beth’s blog (which I just discovered the other day). Trust me, you’ll love it!
Thanks for all you’ve done for me this year, Carol Beth! I love you!
