When I was in 6th grade, I started attending a Christian School. During the next 7 years, I committed more Scripture verses to memory than I can count. And the main means of doing so was by singing them. The principal at our school was very musical and, over the years, he has set TONS of Scripture verses to song. It’s an amazingly effective way of teaching even the littlest of children.
When I heard about Godstruck Ministries 4 Kids, I was interested in learning more about their ministry of teaching Scripture to children through song.
About Godstruck Ministries 4 Kids
Back in 2003, out of an effort to find a way for VBS attendees to actually retain Scripture memory verses, rather than just memorizing them “in the moment,” several songs were set to tune. Over the years, more songs were added and the target audience widened to include regular church attendees, preschool classes, and children in countries as far away as Thailand, Kenya and South Africa. In 2010, a second CD of songs was added to the collection. “Under the umbrella of Godstruck Ministries, LLC, Godstruck Ministries 4 Kids endeavors to be: God-honoring, Service-oriented, Truth-based, Relevant, Ultra fun, Creative, Kid-friendly, Musically moving, Lyrically inspiring.” (More detailed information can be found on the website.)
About the Music
I received both CD’s for review. The CD’s contain a combination of “radio shows” (segments of speaking by a cast of characters) and songs. The songs are fun and simple to sing along with. Having children’s voices in both the songs and the speaking parts makes it much more appealing for children to listen and relate to.
About the Curriculum
The Curriculum is available for use with the Sing God’s Word: Psalms in Tune CD. It’s available in print, and as a .pdf download, and is usable as either a Sunday School or Homeschool Curriculum. It’s geared toward early elementary-aged kids, or a mixed age group.
The curriculum consists of 11 lessons, each one containing simple components to make the most of your class/study time:
- Needs (a list of anything you would need to make the lesson more meaningful)
- Listen (tells what track(s) to listen to on the CD
- Activity/Object Lesson (perfect for hands-on or visual learners
- Commentary (guided text for use by the teacher to tie the activity to the lesson)
- Coloring Page (there is a coloring page to accompany each lesson – these are downloadable for free)
- Bible Passage
- Listen again (repeat the CD track(s))
At the end of the curriculum, there’s a quick reference sheet that shows all the lessons, along with the appropriate CD tracks, Scripture verses, coloring pages, etc.

If your kids are fans of radio programs like Adventures in Odyssey and they love music and singing, then they will enjoy this program. The songs are catchy and fun, the curriculum is straightforward and easy to use, the coloring pages are hand-drawn and simple to color, and there are even downloadable games/worksheets to enhance the learning and expand the fun!
I’d encourage you to familiarize yourself with Godstruck Kids! One simple way to do so is by signing up to receive their monthly newsletter.
