3 years ago, on March 5th, 2010, my best friend in all the world went home to Heaven. There is still not a day that goes by that I don’t think of her and miss her. When I hear this song on the radio, it brings tears to my eyes. I just knew this was the song I needed to share this week, in honor of my friend Sue . . .
This Week’s Feature
This is a tough one. Anyone who has ever lost someone close to them can relate. I’ve often said that death is much harder on those of us who are left behind. We’re the ones who hurt. We’re the ones whose hearts are breaking. And we’re the ones who are left alone and lonely.
Beyond the lyrics to this song, there’s really not much more I can say.
You’re in a better place, I’ve heard a thousand times
And at least a thousand times I’ve rejoiced for you
But the reason why I’m broken, the reason why I cry
Is how long must I wait to be with you
I close my eyes and I see your face
If home’s where my heart is then I’m out of place
Lord, won’t you give me strength to make it through somehow
I’ve never been more homesick than now
If you’re hurting right now over the loss of a loved one, I won’t tell you that the pain goes away. It doesn’t. Life does get a little easier, and the time between tears grows a little longer; but the hurt is always there. The good news is that if your loved one was a Christian (and you are too) then you can rest in the assurance that you will be reunited again in heaven.
I miss you, Sue!
