I have a question for you … How do you keep track of everything that you need to do in a day’s time? Or what about the whole week or month? Or even year? There’s always so much to remember! And honestly, since having a bout with amnesia several years ago, I simply can’t remember things like I once could. If I don’t have everything written done, nothing would ever get done! That may sound trite, but it’s absolutely true! (If you don’t believe me, ask my family!)
What’s Important in a Planner?
I’ve been using a personal planner for several years now. I have several criteria that I look for in what I consider to be a good planner:
- A good, sturdy cover that won’t bend or tear
- A strong wire binding that won’t get easily bent and will allow the planner to lay flat
- Monthly tabs/dividers
- Large 2-page monthly calendar spreads with plenty of room to write on each day
- Weekly pages that are broken out by day so I can add lists or extra information on these pages
- A calendar for the following year (quick, at-a-glance)
- A pocket for keeping track of loose papers and items that I need to hold onto for appointments, etc.
And these aren’t deal-breakers for me, but they are a big plus:
- Extra blank pages for notes
- Bright, colorful pages that are visually pleasing
- And stickers! (I buy extras, but I like having the basics available in my planner)
There aren’t a lot of planners out there that meet my needs and fit my budget. I found one that I love and I purchase a new one every year. This year, though, I found myself with a bit of a conundrum … Not long into 2017, I took a new job as Administrative Assistant for a local company that specializes in wedding hair and makeup services. I thought I could keep all my work stuff together with my life stuff in one planner (as well as keeping various lists and calendars online for the business also). But, as the year progresses and I get deeper and deeper into this job, I find myself wishing that I had purchased a second planner to use just for work purposes.
Enter the new Dayspring Agenda Planner
When I heard that Dayspring was introducing some new planners that would be 18-month planners, starting this July and running through the end of 2018, I got really excited. It seemed like it might be a perfect fit to fill my second planner need. But, of course, I wouldn’t know for sure ’til I laid eyes on the planners and opened them, touched them, (OK, yes, I might have even smelled it!), thumbed through the pages, etc.
After using the planner for about a week, I can say with confidence that it was just what I needed. And, even better — I can recommend these lovely planners to all my friends! So, without further adieu, let me introduce you to all that’s to love about the Dayspring Agenda Planners.
For the sake of use and review, I received two of the Dayspring Planners – the Flamingo one (which I decided looked perfect for my job) and the (in)courage one (which is also very pretty!) My daughter loved the (in)courage planner and swiped it up for her very own (because, yes, my love of planning has been passed down to the next generation.
These planners have EVERYTHING that I listed as my must-haves above, as well as all the extras that I enjoy in a planner!
Here’s why I think you’ll love them too:
The monthly 2-page spreads have plenty of room for me to write on them. For the sake of privacy, I used “tape” to cover the bride’s names, but you can see that I have a color-coding system going on in this planner. (I use this same color-coding for the company Google calendar as well.)
I couldn’t ask for a planner that was more bright and visually pleasing! Just look at those pretty colors! And the monthly tabs/dividers are so handy. Each month’s divider page is a different color – then the month behind that page carries through with that color – in a fun solid around the monthly 2-page spread, and a pattern on the weekly pages.
Again, the weekly pages are nicely laid out and each day has plenty of room for writing pertinent information. I plan to fill mine with bride information, but if I were using this for a personal planner, this is where I’d record my daily to-do lists and my blog post information.
These are just some of the lovely sentiments that are on the monthly page dividers. I just love these reminders – I know that, each month as I work through these planners, I will appreciate each one and take it to heart. The dividers above are, again, from the Flamingo planner. Here are a few from the (in)courage planner as well:
The pocket at the back of the planner is 2-sided so there’s plenty of room to stash important papers that you need to take with you. And there are 3 pages of stickers, including 1 whole page of blanks that you can personalize.
