Welcome to those of you joining me from A Disney Mom’s Thoughts and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 4th stop on our Magical Blogorail. This month, in celebration of Valentine’s Day, we’re talking about the Most Romantic Disney Restaurants.
I’m going to go in a slightly different direction with my post this month. Why? Because I’ve not yet had the privilege of visiting Disney for a romantic getaway. We always seem to have our kids along. 😉 Even though my kids are getting older, we still don’t seem to want to separate when we’re on a Disney trip. But, one of these days, I’m sure Brian and I will get our chance!
For now, though, I’m going to approach this month’s topic from the perspective of a couple on a budget. You don’t have to be a millionaire to have a romantic dinner at Walt Disney World. You don’t have to be on the Dining Plan, and you don’t have to eat at Signature Restaurants. I’m all about doing things on the cheap, while not necessarily skimping on quality.
So, here are my suggestions for (less expensive) table service options that are still very romantic. You’re sure to have a great time and a delicious meal at any of these dining locations.
Remember the scene in “Lady & the Tramp” where they are sharing a plate of spaghetti? What could be more romantic than that?! Not much that I can think of! Let’s face it, there’s just something romantic about Italian food! So, in the Magic Kingdom, my romantic restaurant recommendation would be Tony’s Town Square. You could easily get a nice meal for two, including appetizer to share, for $50 (even less if you actually split the spaghetti!)
Our family recently dined at Chefs de France in the France Pavilion of World Showcase. It was delicious! The atmosphere and dim lighting made it perfect for a romantic dinner for two. Prices are a little higher here than at Tony’s, but definitely worth it. You can pretend you’re in Paris, with the Eiffel Tower looming in the background of the pavilion. Who wouldn’t want to dine in the “City of Love”?
This might not seem the least bit romantic to you, but at Hollywood Studios, I’m going to recommend Sci-Fi Dine-In. In my mind, I’m picturing old episodes of Happy Days with them “necking” at the drive-in! (Yes, I’m dating myself – I was a kid in the 70’s!) Anyway, the ambiance in this place is pretty romantic if you ask me. It’s always nighttime in there (you can barely see your food, for Pete’s sake). The steak here is one of the best I’ve had on Disney property, and I can just imagine snuggling up with my sweetie in that car!
While I would love to dine at Yak & Yeti on a romantic evening with my hubby, I know that he’s not really “into” that type of food. So, to him, it would be much more romantic of me to pick a place where he could get something he’ll enjoy eating. With that in mind, at the Animal Kingdom, I’m going to suggest dining at Rainforest Cafe. He could get a “normal” meal like a burger or ribs and I could find something a bit more unique and we’d both be happy! Not to mention I LOVE their gift shop; so I’d be happy strolling through it while waiting to be seated.
So, there you have it — four restaurants that you might not have thought of as romantic before! Try them, and let me know what you think!
