Around our house, we were a little late in jumping on the Duck Dynasty bandwagon. See, we don’t have cable service, so we never saw the show. We wondered what the fascination was with it. I mean, seriously? A family of bearded duck hunters? What could be so awesome about that?!
Then, one day, we noticed that we could watch some episodes of the show on Hulu or Amazon Prime or something (honestly, I don’t remember which it was). We were all sitting around with nothing to do one evening, and decided to give it a whirl. We laughed so hard. And we were touched by the family togetherness and the Christian values.
Since that time, we’ve watched every episode that we could, bought the rest on DVD, and have every single book that they’ve published. We’ve read them all and loved them all – it’s hard to pick a favorite. We follow our favorites on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. We love keeping up with Robertson family news.
I guess you could say we’re on the bandwagon – in a big way!
So, when I was presented the opportunity to check our Korie’s latest book – Strong and Kind And Other Important Character Traits Your Child Needs to Succeed – I got excited. Another DD book to add to our growing collection! And hopefully something valuable as well!
About the Book
In her new book STRONG and KIND: And Other Important Character Traits Your Child Needs to Succeed, Korie Robertson – New York Times bestselling author, wife of Duck Commander® CEO Willie Robertson, star of A&E’s Duck Dynasty, and mother of five – argues that developing good character in our children is the single most important thing we can do to help ensure they lead happy, healthy adult lives. Robertson explores key traits and what they truly look like in action, asks readers to select the two traits that they hope to see most in their children, and shares hands-on ways for nurturing strength of character. Written with her mother Chrys Howard and featuring stories and wisdom from husband Willie, STRONG and KIND cuts through the contemporary cacophony of parenting manuals to rediscover, unfold, and embrace the enduring wisdom that has guided the best parents for centuries.

Heidi Says . . .
I am only about 1/4 – 1/3 of the way through this book so far, but I am loving it. Unlike the other Duck Dynasty books that I have read, this one is not really biographical in nature; it’s more of a self-help parenting guide. On the other hand, as we’ve come to expect from DD publications, this book is so well written and draws the reader right in. The more I read, the more I want to read!
I have loved watching the Robertson kids literally grow up before our eyes on the show. It’s great to see them becoming adults and spreading their wings. One thing that I am always so impressed with is their respect for their parents and other adults in their lives. At first I thought, “Oh, that’s how they act ON AIR;” but, honestly, I believe those kids are respectful all the time. I know, from reading Phil’s books, that he was tough on his kids, demanding respect for their mother, and commanding respect for himself. I believe the Robertson boys have carried this on in their own families. Because I feel that their children are receiving a quality, well-rounded upbringing, I’m happy to read a book sharing tips and tricks for parenting my own children. (And, trust me, I wouldn’t read just anyone’s parenting books!)
I’m anxious to finish this book and add it to our collection of Duck Dynasty books. Of course, I’m willing to share as well. If you’re local, and would like to borrow it when I’m done, let me know.
Check out the book’s official website for more information.
