“The Words I Would Say”

“The Words I Would Say”

Over the years, my oldest daughter Ashley and I have had some amazing conversations that have come about while listening to music.  Some of our favorite Christian contemporary artists and groups – such as FFH and Casting Crowns – have written songs that have so much meaning in them that it’s almost impossible not to talk about them!  As I listen to music in the mornings, while I’m exercising on the elliptical, thoughts have been rolling through my head that I need to be blogging about them.

So, that’s how Saturday Sermon in Song was born!  I won’t promise a song each week, but we’ll see what we can do . . .

This Week’s Feature

My Thoughts

Last night, the girls and I attended Winter Jam.  One of the bands performing this year is Sidewalk Prophets.  I knew I enjoyed their music from the radio, but I really didn’t realize how many of their songs I know and love.  This one has significant meaning to me because, early in 2012, when I was struggling with so many things, a dear friend sent me this song.  It met me right where I was; and I asked Ashley to make it the ringtone on my phone so that, every time someone called, I’d be reminded that I could be strong in the Lord and that my life could be significant.

Be strong in the Lord and
Never give up hope.
You’re going to do great things,
I already know.
God’s got His hand on you so
Don’t live life in fear.
Forgive and forget,
But don’t forget why you’re here.
Take your time and pray,
These are the words I would say.

If you are struggling right now, may this song minister to you as well.  Don’t give up!  Don’t be scared.  Pray, and allow God to work in your life.  You can do great things!
