The iconic Dole Whip …
I first learned about this treasure back in 2008 on the DisBoards. Everyone was bragging up this heavenly treat at the Magic Kingdom and I decided that I absolutely had to try one on our next visit. That visit took place in January of 2009; and I haven’t visited Walt Disney World since without a stop at Aloha Isle Refreshments for a Dole Whip (actually, I prefer the Dole Whip Float, as seen in the picture below).
So, what is a Dole Whip anyway?
Disney puts it quite simply:
Dole Whip®—a popular frozen treat blended in pineapple, vanilla or swirled flavors
Again, my personal favorite is the Float – pineapple soft serve with pineapple juice. What a refreshing treat on a hot Florida afternoon! I can’t think of anything that would top it; though, Disney has added some new and interesting varieties, such as Dole Whip with Rum, which is also quite delicious.
Where (in the World) can I find this refreshing treat?
So, now that I have your mouth watering for a Dole Whip, let’s get to the important part of this post – where you can find a Dole Whip at Walt Disney World (and beyond!)
Originally, the Dole Whip was available in only 2 locations at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida – Aloha Isle Refreshments and the food court at the Polynesian resort. However, over the years, because of its increasing popularity, you can now find this iconic treat at many locations! And that’s great news because, if you’re anything like me, you’re going to want to stop and enjoy one at every possible opportunity!
Aloha Isle Refreshments
Originally located to the right just after passing into Adventureland in the Magic Kingdom, Aloha Isle has now swapped locations with Sunshine Tree Terrace and sits back in the corner behind The Magic Carpets of Aladdin and to the right of The Enchanted Tiki Room. There’s more room in this location, which really helps with the congestion that the Dole Whip lines often create. Plus, for me, the move is a big plus because it is no longer located directly across from a designated smoking zone!
Located in Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, you will find your favorite Dole Whip and Dole Whip Float available here. And, you can even order in a souvenir Tiki Bowl or Tiki Sipper. (I may have to do this on my next trip to the World!)
Tamu Tamu Refreshments
This is located in Harambe at Animal Kingdom, on the corner directly across from Tusker House Restaraunt. I don’t know why, but sometimes it feels especially hot at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. On my last visit there with my dear friend Suzanne, I was on a mission to try Dole Whip with Rum. While Suzanne went with the regular Dole Whip, I chose the Dole Whip with Coconut Rum and I was not disappointed! It didn’t have a really strong alcohol flavor (though you definitely tasted it!), but the hint of coconut made my favorite treat extra delicious!
The Drop Off Pool Bar
Located by the main pool at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, you will find a new twist on the Dole Whip – it’s called Captain’s Pineapple Drink and it’s basically a Dole Whip Smoothie made of everyone’s favorite Dole Whip and Rum. I’ve not yet tried this creation, but trust me … I will! You can read more about it at The Disney Food Blog.
In case you get a hankering for a Dole Whip at Disney Springs, now you can find them at Marketplace Snacks! A Dole Whip and Shopping … now that is a winning combination!
While I can’t speak from experience, I am told that you can find the Dole Whip with Rum available at Epcot during the Flower & Garden Festival (in the Spring) and the Food & Wine Festival (in the Fall). While I (sadly) have no personal experience with either of these festivals, my daughter did try the Dole Whip with (Dark) Rum on a recent visit and assured me that it was quite good.
Sadly, not everyone has the liberty of popping over to Walt Disney World for a beloved Dole Whip anytime. But, it’s ok! Dole Whips are available elsewhere too!
Where else can I find a Dole Whip?
Still a Disney park, but located on the opposite coast, Disneyland offers Dole Whips and Floats at the Tiki Juice Bar.
Dutch Wonderland – Lancaster, PA
I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited to see a Dole Whip in all my life! Why? Because Dutch Wonderland is located about an hour and a half from our house. I only wish you didn’t have to enter the park (paid admission) to get it!
And beyond …
The Dole Website says that you may be able to find Dole Whips at these locations also (this list is not tremendously up-to-date, so if you have to drive a while to get to one of these locations, you may want to call and confirm first):
- Orange Leaf (National)
- Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt (National)
- Hula Girls Shave Ice, California
- Disney Parks, California & Florida

And, you can always make your own!
Several years ago, the girls and I hosted a DisneySide @ Home party and one of the creations we made to share with our guests was homemade Dole Whips. They weren’t exactly like the ones at the parks, but they were delicious enough to feel like we were enjoying some Disney at home. Unfortunately, the recipe we used is no longer available online. If you do a search for “Dole Whip Recipe,” you’ll find lots of recipes online. If you decide to try one, let me know!
Another option is to order the authentic Dole Whip Mix – available from Amazon. For only $26.99, you can make 89 1/2 cup servings! I don’t know about you, but I’m placing my order RIGHT NOW!
