The 4th day of our trip was a very special day . . . Ashley’s 21st birthday! She chose to spend her special day celebrating at Epcot. I even made special shirts for the occasion!
Our very first stop of the morning was the character spot – I mean, what better way to start your birthday than by hanging out with Mickey Mouse, right? When Goofy discovered that it was her 21st birthday, he decided that he wanted to take off with her and party! I love how the characters make you feel extra special!
We took Suzanne to introduce her to Soarin’ and The Seas with Nemo and Friends. From there, we headed back to World Showcase, where we spent the majority of our day. We started out with lunch at Cantina de San Ángel, then proceeded to stroll counter-clockwise around the lagoon. I just love World Showcase and could spend days and days just wandering through it. I had fun snapping some unique rooftop pictures.
We went into the American Adventure pavilion to listen to Voices of Liberty and see the show. Ashley was surprised when there was a phone call for her in the lobby – her pal Goofy surprised her with a birthday phone message!
After checking out the alcoholic beverage options around the world, Ashley decided it was finally time to make up her mind and try something (it WAS her birthday, after all). She decided on the Grand Marnier Orange Slush at the France Pavilion. I got one too (couldn’t have my girl imbibing alone). We both ordered the same thing – but it came from 2 different machines. Mine (on the left) was much more orange in color. I’ll be sharing our thoughts on this beverage in an upcoming addition of Favorite Food Friday (though, here’s a hint: it wasn’t really a favorite for either of us!)
From France, we wandered over to the UK Pavilion to meet up with my friend Adam Berger, author of Every Guest is a Hero. His wife Julia and adorable son Micah were along. It was fun to get to meet them in person after interacting online for many months. (I love that we have so many friends in Florida!)
We continued around the World, eventually ending up back in Italy for our dinner reservation at Via Napoli (our menu items will be featured in Favorite Food Friday posts as well). One thing that I really loved about this trip was trying out some new restaurants that we hadn’t experienced before.
We got some great shots with the PhotoPass photographers (I’m so glad we decided to do the Memory Maker!) Here are just a few of our favorites:
We really, really wanted to stay for IllumiNations, but we were all so exhausted that we decided to call it a day and head back to the resort. Of course, we had to stop for the required nighttime picture in front of our beloved Spaceship Earth (it’s not a trip to Epcot with it!)
Be sure to stop back next week for Day 5’s Trip Report. We’re heading to Animal Kingdom for our last park day!
