It seems like I’ve been the source of lots of laughter in my home this week. Why is it that kids enjoy making fun of their parents so much? Anyway, the very things that they’ve been laughing at me about are the things that I’ve decided to add to my list this week. Maybe you’ll find them funny too!
#1 – I can’t whistle. My mom is a great whistler. She can whistle a tune clearly. Yet, somehow this ability skipped right over me. I was never able to get more than a puff of hot air out of my lips. No music will come out. Fortunately, I can at least carry a tune.
#2 – I can’t snap. Well, that’s not 100% sure. Technically, I can make a snapping sound with my left hand. My friend Suzanne taught me how to when I was in about the 10th grade. We were cheerleaders and were working on a new cheer to teach the squad. And, wouldn’t you know – it required snapping. But, even though I can make that snapping sound, my kids still find it hilarious because I don’t do it “the right way”. Whatever!
#3 – When I’m starting to fall asleep, I make a weird moaning noise. This is embarrassing, but sometimes I even wake myself. My kids find this hilarious and it’s often a family joke. This is part of the reason why I hate falling asleep on an airplane! I’m always afraid I might moan.
Man, I really just put myself out there for all the world to laugh at. Oh well! Surely there are some randomly goofy things that YOU could confess as well, right?
