Welcome to those of you joining me from The Disney Kids and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 2nd stop on our Magical Blogorail. This month, I’m stepping in for my friend Mary (from Capturing Magical Memories). We’re sharing our Favorite Character Experiences with you . . .
One of our absolute favorite things about our trips to Walt Disney World is meeting the characters. In the past, I’ve blogged about some of our favorite character dining experiences – here and here. My kids love getting pictures with the characters, and having the characters sign their autograph books. Around our house, it has become a bit of a “game challenge” to come up with new ideas of ways to get character autographs (instead of using the typical Disney autograph books).
In fact, the homemade autograph books that we made for our 2012 trips were apparently so unique that Jasmine remembered having met us – from January to September! THAT was an amazing character experience that I previously shared about on my blog.
But, one character experience that stands out in my mind is from our family’s very first trip to Walt Disney World – back when we were a small family of just three . . .
We stood in line in the Toontown Hall of Fame to meet the characters from the Hundred Acre Wood. Ashley enjoyed meeting Pooh and Piglet, but Tigger was especially attentive:
(On days like this, I really wish that Creative Memories wouldn’t have encouraged me to cut up my pictures and put them in their un-removable pages!) Anyway, notice the journal line I added on the scrapbook page. Rather than just meeting her and giving her a hug and signing her autograph book, Tigger interacted with Ashley for at least 5 minutes. He kissed her, over and over again. And she loved it! I know to this day, despite all the trips to Walt Disney World that we’ve made since this first trip, that first meeting with Tigger stands out in her mind above all the rest. And, because of it, she’s always sensed a special relationship with Tigger.
There hasn’t been a trip that we’ve taken where we haven’t had to make a point to reconnect with her old friend.
Over the years, we’ve been blessed with MANY awesome experiences with the Disney characters – and both Gracie and Ian have their “firsts” and “favorites” too. But, I’ll save those stories for another day.
Much like first love, a first special character experience remains in a child’s (or adult’s) heart forever.
I’d love to hear about YOUR special character experiences!
Please leave me a comment and share!
