Heidi Says . . .
When my friend Suzanne and I were planning our “Ladies Only” Disney trip, this was one thing that I knew we had to do. I’ve enjoyed the Garden View Tea Room before, and I knew it would be something she would enjoy as well. Her appreciation for this meal went above and beyond my expectations when she declared it, by far, the best meal we had on our trip! And that’s saying something because we had a lot of great meals!
We were one of the first parties to be seated for afternoon tea, so we started out having one side of the dining room all to ourselves. Not long after, though, we did have people sitting right beside us (we enjoyed comparing notes with them as we dined).
We each had The Bedfordshire Tea, which was PLENTY of tea AND food! We were stuffed when we walked out of there (good thing we had a late dinner planned).
At first, I don’t think Suzanne was too crazy about the THOUGHT of some of the sandwiches, but I told her she had to TRY everything. Turns out, they were all very delicious. I think my favorite was the yellow beet one (who knew?!) The cheeses were different, but very delicious as well.
The day we dined there, we had raisin scones which were quite tasty. Suzanne commented how they weren’t nearly as dry as most scones. I love scones and really enjoyed this one. The jam tart was especially yummy with the lemon curd on it (as suggested by our lovely server, Michelle).
Dessert was so simple, yet divine! I went with the berries and fresh cream and I couldn’t have been happier. It was the perfect light accompaniment to the other offerings.
We each chose a different tea, but they each had mint undertones. I drank 4 cups of tea and there was still some left in my pot when we left – so they are not stingy with the tea!
Kudos to the chef, Jose, for the fabulous food. Kudos to the Grand Floridian for the royal atmosphere. I’m ready to go back!
