Welcome to those of you joining me from Disney Donna Kay and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 4th stop on our Magical Blogorail. Special thanks to my red loop friends for allowing me to hop aboard with them this month. This month’s topic is to answer the question: “What Do You Do on Arrival Day at the Parks?”
So what exactly is it that my family does on our arrival day at Disney? I looked back over pictures from our last 5 trips to see . . .
There is definitely a trend taking place here . . . we do one (or all) of three things.
- Check out where we are staying – whether on property or off, we like to investigate our surroundings, become familiar, and take some pictures.
- Visit Downtown Disney – we LOVE Downtown Disney and we often go there on our first day to get a Disney-fix without making use of a ticket for the parks.
- Eat a nice meal somewhere – on the collage above, you can see that we’ve done 1900 Park Fare, Hoop-Dee-Doo, and T-Rex. Whether we choose to fly or drive, we’re still a bit tired on arrival day from traveling and it’s nice to be able to enjoy a sit-down meal in a relaxing environment.
We are currently counting down the days to our Christmas trip to Walt Disney World! It will be our family’s first time to visit during the holidays. (As of today, our countdown is at 27 days!)
We have chosen to fly for this trip. Our flight should land at around 2:06 in the afternoon.
Since we are quite familiar with our “home” resort – Port Orleans Riverside – we’ll probably check out the decorations while we are checking in, proceed to our room to “regroup”, then head out for the afternoon.
Currently, the plan is to check out the resort decorations at the Epcot resorts – Boardwalk, Yacht Club, and Beach Club. I haven’t heard much about the Swan & Dolphin, but since they are also close by, I did a little investigating and found some fun things we might check out if we have the time.
We have a 7:05 dining reservation at Cape May Cafe.
Depending on what time we finish supper, and how tired we may be, we might venture over to Epcot for IllumiNations afterwards – or head back to POR for an early bedtime. The next day it’ll be off to the Magic Kingdom, so we will definitely need some rest!
I’m very excited for our first holiday trip to Walt Disney World!
