My favorite food this week: Baked Potato and Cheddar Cheese Soup
Heidi Says . . .
For the Soup & Salad course at Animator’s Palate, I selected the Baked Potato and Cheddar Cheese Soup – With Bacon Bits and Chives. Honestly, everything sounded good and it was hard to decide.
- Arugula Leaves – With Red Beets, Orange Segments and Marinated White Beans with Mustard Dressing
- Baked Potato and Cheddar Cheese Soup – With Bacon Bits and Chives
- Chicken and Walnut Salad – Craisins, Red Onions and a Cranberry Dressing
- Creamy Butternut Squash Soup – Garnished with Chives and drizzled with Sour Cream
I almost opted against the soup because we make our own version of Loaded Baked Potato Soup at home a lot. But, I’m glad I chose it (Brian did as well). It was different from what we make at home. Rather than having chunks of potatoes in it, they were blended in, making the soup smooth. And the cheese had a very different flavor from the cheddar cheese we use. I can’t say I liked it better than our own homemade soup, but I did really enjoy it for its differentness. (I just made up that word!)
I will say that, after eating the appetizer and the soup, I was feeling quite full and somewhat dreading that I even had an entree coming!
FYI: That evening, I ordered the Pennete Bolognese as my entree. I ended up eating very little of it because I wasn’t very hungry and it wasn’t very special. Of all the foods we had during our cruise, it was my least favorite. Therefore, it won’t be showing up on a future edition of Favorite Food Friday. But just to prove that I had it, here’s a picture:
