Let’s face it, the Bible is a confusing book. I was raised in the church, attended a Christian school for 7 years, and I’ve read through the Bible several times. Still, there are things that confuse me about the Bible.
If I am confused, what does that mean to a new Christian or someone who has just discovered the Bible? Someone who is new to the Bible and maybe doesn’t have access to someone who can help walk him/her through can easily become frustrated and confused.
We have a foreign exchange student living with us this year. Before coming to our family, he knew nothing about the Bible, God, and Christianity. So, when I heard about this book called 30 Days to Understanding the Bible, I thought it might be a good resource to share with him.
About 30 Days to Understanding the Bible
If you’ve ever confused the ark of the covenant with the ark of Noah, or Jericho with Jeroboam, Max Anders’ classic book, 30 Days to Understanding the Bible, is for you. In just fifteen minutes a day, you’ll learn the Bible’s key people, events, and doctrines to get more out of God’s Word. This simple-to-use,
• The “Arc of Bible History” to help you visualize the Bible’s overarching themes
• The “Story of the Bible” summarizing Genesis through Revelation in just a few pages
• The core beliefs of the Christian faith, focusing on the teachings that have united Christians for the last 2,000 years
• 13-week plan that provides teacher’s every creative and effective tool for teaching the Bible in 30 days
• Fan-favorite bonus content, previously removed, now restored from the original edition
Heidi Says …
As soon as this book arrived, I was excited about it. It’s not just a book that you sit down and read. Instead, it is filled with graphics and quizzes to help you remember what you are learning. As a homeschool mom, this thrills me because this book is more like a textbook than a work of nonfiction. It’s a handbook that you can keep with you to refer back to again and again over the years, when you find yourself forgetting or needing a refresher course.
I think this book is perfect to present to our exchange student to accompany the Bible we gave to him for Christmas. The chapters are short and would definitely only take about 15 minutes a day, yet they cover a lot of information in an easy-to-digest format.
