Welcome to those of you joining me from A Disney Mom’s Thoughts and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 2nd stop on our Magical Blogorail. This month, our topic is Favorite WDW Spirits (Plus Non-Alcoholic Fun).
I have to admit that I wasn’t sure what to post about for this month’s topic. I’ve never been a fan of the taste of alcohol (which is probably a good thing, since I can drink quite a lot!) So, I’ve offered to be the “designated driver” on this month’s Green Blogorail, and I’ll be sharing some of my family’s favorite non-alcoholic beverages around the ‘World.
Let’s face it, at Walt Disney World, you NEED to keep hydrated. We used to carry around bottled water, until we discovered that counter service restaurants (and kiosks) will give you ice water if you ask. But, a person can only drink so much water! Sometimes you need something tastier, just for fun! The “fun stuff” might leave you longing for some water – but since it’s readily available, I’m not going to talk about water in this post.
In the picture above, you see one of my favorites – the frozen pina colada, served at many of the resorts’ pool bars. (This particular one was purchased at Coronado Springs.) You can order them “virgin”, or without alcohol; and, in my opinion, they taste MUCH better that way! The exact name on the menu is Pancho Villa Pina Colada. Try one!
I also recently posted my thoughts on Coral Reef Restaurant, where we were able to enjoy non-alcoholic pina coladas with our meal. So yummy and refreshing!
Another drink that I absolutely cannot go to Walt Disney World without enjoying at least once is the Dole Whip Float, served at Aloha Isle in Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom. I’ve posted about my love for this beverage many, many times. (Most recently, here.) The Dole Whip soft serve is good in and of itself – but the addition of the pineapple juice turns it into a “drink” of sorts – and all I can say is “YUM!”
I have to admit that I wasn’t all that thrilled with the news that Starbucks was coming to Walt Disney World. BUT, now that it’s there, and we discovered that you can purchase ANY SIZE drink on the Disney Disney Plan – as a SNACK – I’m pretty excited! Sometimes a girl just needs a good dose of caffeine, so a nice, hot coffee is in order! Other times, it’s fun to indulge in one of the frozen coffee beverages. On our last trip, I got a hot coffee at the Main Street Bakery Starbucks at the Magic Kingdom one day; another day, I enjoyed a frappe over at the Starbucks in Epcot. (And the fact that I can order the largest size possible makes is much easier to share!)
I try to limit the amount of soda that my family drinks, but we do enjoy going into Club Cool at Epcot and sampling the various sodas from around the world. I was excited when I heard that they would be changing out the flavors. With the exception of Beverly from Italy, most of the new flavors are pretty good! It’s a great way to “whet your whistle” while at Epcot, and the fact that it’s FREE makes it even better!
While we haven’t tried it yet, Ashley is insistent that we try LeFou’s Brew on our next visit. I might even have to splurge on the souvenir cup! It’s described as ” no-sugar added frozen apple juice with a hint of toasted marshmallow, topped with all-natural passion fruit-mango foam,” which doesn’t really appeal to me – I don’t like apple juice OR marshmallow, but the passion fruit-mango part sounds tempting (and refreshing).
So, there you have it. Some of our favorite beverages around the ‘World. And, lest you think I’m a total goodie-two-shoes, I will confess . . . on our last visit, we discovered the wine coolers for sale in the resort gift shops. I may have treated myself to a few of them. (And here is another example of why I don’t drink – I could literally drink a whole case of those things in one day – LOVE them!) Anyway, I digress . . .
What are YOUR favorite drinks around the ‘World?
I’d love to hear about them.
