My Disney blogging buddy, Sean – from Disney Day by Day – hosts a Favorite Food Friday link-up and I’m not sure how I’ve been missing out on it! I mean, seriously, I love Disney and I love experiencing Disney food! So, this is right up my alley!
Each Friday, we’re supposed to share our favorite food of the week – it can be Disney-related or otherwise. Sounds like fun, right?
So, to start things off, I’m going to share about something I’ve been dreaming of (but believe is no longer available):
I first learned of this little beauty when my friend Randy posted about it on Your Highway in the Sky. I read his description and I just knew that, on my next trip to Disney, I’d be heading over to the Poly to have one of my own. Wouldn’t you?
“With tender chicken on a warm pineapple-coconut bun, pineapple salsa, melted cheddar cheese, and teriyaki sauce…Captain Cook’s Chicken Sandwich is greasy pineapple goodness that I’m always ready to have. It’s tasty, full of sweet flavor, and incredibly messy.” ~Randy
We did try it out last January (2012). I believe the cost was $8.99 and it came with homemade chips. The sandwich was large enough for Ashley and I to share it and be full. But it was delicious enough for someone to want to eat the whole thing! And I’ve been thinking about it ever since.
Alas, though, upon looking at current Captain Cook’s menus, it doesn’t look like they still serve this sandwich. 😥
If only I could figure out where to find (or how to make) the pineapple-coconut bun, I could probably recreate this delectable sandwich at home. I think I’m on a new mission . . .
