As a blogger, I may be compensated in some way (either pay, product, or experience) for sharing the post below All opinions are my own. ~Heidi
About three years ago, I began my tea business, thinking it would be a fun little “aside” for me. However, it wasn’t long into my journey that I realized that what I really needed to promote, along with the tea, was community. We humans were made for connection, yet it’s an area that is so lacking in our world today! And, 2020 did NOTHING to help with that!

The Loneliness Solution seemed like the perfect book for me. The book description sounded so much like what I’ve been saying for years.
About The Loneliness Solution

Statistics show that, despite our connected world–and partly because of it–we are lonelier than ever. Social media tricks us into thinking that we are engaged in genuine friendships, except we never quite get beyond that feeling of being outside someone else’s life and looking in every so often at what they choose to show the world. Instead of intimacy we get little more than what amounts to digital small talk. But there is a solution.
With plenty of good humor and practical advice, Jack Eason invites you to discover the benefits of doing life together with other brothers and sisters in Christ. Grounding his message in Scripture, Eason helps you
– learn the obstacles to real community
– reimagine what real friendship looks like
– discover a place of true belonging
– and more
If you’re tired of feeling lonely, this encouraging and community-building book is just what you need.

Heidi Says …

I just received this book the other day. Generally, personal development isn’t my favorite genre (though I’m trying to make a point to read more books in this genre). It normally takes me forever to read one, but I’ve been zipping through this one! I even took it to the bathtub with me two nights in a row!
Every chapter that I’ve read, so far, just speaks to me and is like confirmation of the things that I’ve been saying for years. For one thing, social media is not a good replacement for real, in-person communication and connection. “Friends” online are not the same as friends IRL (in real life).

Did you know that the two loneliest people groups are the elderly and those considered Gen Z (18-22 year olds)? This makes me so sad. This year, thanks to covid, lonely people are more lonely and isolated than ever! The elderly, whether they live alone or in a nursing home, are struggling more than ever this year because of a lack of visitors and connections. And, the young college-aged people are not getting the regular college experience, being able to get out and meet new people and make connections on campus.
If you are in one of these groups, or anywhere in between (Gen X-er, here), and you are struggling with loneliness and the need to connect with others, I would definitely encourage you to pick up a copy of this book. In it, you’ll find ways to find and create community and combat that feeling of loneliness that none of us enjoy.
And, if you bump into me anywhere, please know that, despite covid, I am always ready with a hug!
