As a blogger, I may be compensated in some way (either pay, product, or experience) for sharing the post below All opinions are my own. ~Heidi

GrubMarket

There is nothing more refreshing than a piece of fresh fruit. I love eating fresh fruit and sharing it with my kids.  But, here in Pennsylvania, fresh fruit isn’t so easy to come by in the middle of winter.  And, what we do have access to is imported from who-knows-where and costs more than I’m often willing to pay.

Recently, I was introduced to GrubMarket.  GrubMarket is an easy-to-use online marketplace for local food in fresh quality with affordable prices.  Their mission is to conveniently make fresh & healthy food accessible to everyone.  It’s an online farmers’ market!!!

About GrubMarket

GrubMarket is all about providing accessibility, by delivering the following key benefits to their stakeholders:
  • Unbeatable prices:  While many food delivery services and premium grocers cater to high-income earners, GrubMarket is committed to making fresh and delicious food accessible to all people by keeping their prices consistently lower than all comparable grocers.
  • Convenience:  Through their reliable operations, GrubMarket is committed to providing people in food deserts (ie. areas without farmers’ markets and fresh grocery stores) with access to high-quality, freshly-harvested items that they would typically find at a farmers’ market or Whole Foods store.  Additionally, they offer free delivery across the U.S. for all orders above $59.
  • Food Discovery:  GrubMarket provides a platform for their partnering small farms and vendors to sell their items directly to customers.  Many of these food producers have challenges getting shelf space at grocery stores, and/or may not want to pay the upfront costs of hosting farmers’ market tables.  GrubMarket gives these food producers access to tens of thousands of customers through a robust online marketplace, regardless of the food producers’ production scale.

GrubMarket firmly believes that you, your family, and your friends should always have the opportunity to eat well, and that price should never be a barrier between you and healthy, delicious, and freshly-harvested food.  They are committed to providing you with the best grocery experience possible, by regularly offering you wholesome foods at wholesale prices.  They work with a variety of farms and artisan producers to bring you high-quality foods and other items at prices that are up to 50% OFF what you’d typically find at Whole Foods and other grocers.

Heidi Says . . .

Our GrubMarket box arrived on a day and time when all 3 of my kids were home and gathered around to see what was inside.  Fresh fruit is a commodity and they couldn’t wait to see what kinds we had in our box.

As you can see, everything was very nicely packaged.  We had to dig through layers to unpack all the fruit that was inside!

GrubMarket Unboxing 2

Here you see dates, an avocado, pears and apples (wrapped), and various types of oranges (several of which we had never seen or tried before).

On the bottom layer, we found a pineapple (yum!), a pomegranate, and what I thought was a very large grapefruit (but friends on Facebook told me it’s most likely a pomelo).

Once we had it all out, Ian immediately reached for a pear.  (I’m not a fan of pears, but he said it was delicious, and ate the second one the next day.)

I was so excited to see what a variety of fruit that we had, so I decided to make a fruit salad.  That gave me a good excuse to cut up LOTS of the fruit.  This orange was interesting.

GrubMarket Orange

I’m not sure what it’s called, but it had a very sweet flavor.  The finished fruit salad wasn’t very colorful, but it sure was delicious.  And it lasted several days, so we were able to enjoy the fruit for quite awhile!

I used the Pioneer Woman’s recipe for orange-vanilla fruit salad syrup and it enhanced the fruits flavors wonderfully.

We all really enjoyed this fruit.  The only issue we had was that the avocado was split open.  (Honestly, I didn’t care – I can eat them, but find them mushy and gross.  I know they’re good for you, but . . . )

GrubMarket actually carries a LOT of products.  Produce-wise, you can order individual fruits, or a fruit box, like the California Fruit Bounty box that I received (it’s available in box Regular and Large sizes).  You also have 4 choices for delivery options, such as Only Once, Every Week, Every Other Week, or Every Four Weeks.
