My favorite food this week: King Whoopie Pie
Everything Pop Food Court
Disney’s Pop Century Resort
Heidi Says . . .
For a long time, I have heard people make mention of the King Cupcake at Disney’s Pop Century Resort. We had dined there several years ago with friends, but I don’t remember seeing it then (but I was probably too cheap to buy dessert at the time!)
Brian and I stayed at Pop both the night before and the night after our cruise. And, I have to admit, it’s NOT my favorite resort. No matter how hard I try – because I want to, I really want to – I just am not a fan of the Value resorts. But, on our very last day, as we were sitting waiting for the bus to take us back to the airport, I had one mission in mind . . . to get my hands on that King Cupcake.
And, guess what? It was no longer on the menu! But, in its place was the King Whoopie Pie. Honestly, to me, it looked more like a cupcake than a whoopie pie. (What I think of as a whoopie pie would more closely resemble the Carrot Cake Cookie at Hollywood Studios – two large flattish cookies with filling/icing between them.)
This “whoopie pie” looked much more like a cupcake, cut in 1/2 horizontally, and filled with icing. Then, as the picture clearly shows, there was also icing on top, along with a banana chip and bacon crumbles.
I offered to share it with Brian, but he was full after our pizza (which, for a Value resort food court, was really quite good!) But, I was bound and determined to conquer that thing – and conquer I did. I ate every last bite of it.
And I thought it was quite good! But, of course, having no previous experience with the King Cupcake, I have nothing to compare it to.
Have you had the King Whoopie Pie?
What are your thoughts?
