Last week, I had a really neat opportunity . . . I took part in a teleconference with Kirk Cameron! Yes, THE Kirk Cameron. If you lived through the 80’s, like me, then you know him as Mike Seaver from “Growing Pain.” If you’ve followed his life/career over the years, then you probably know that Kirk went from being an atheist to being a Christian, that he married his on-screen love (Chelsea Noble), that he has kids (both biological and adopted), that their family homeschools, and that he’s doing his part to promote Christianity in a mainstream world. We got to hear about all of these things – and more – on the call last week. It was fun to hear that familiar voice talking on the other end of the phone. Despite the fame, he really is “just a regular guy” who’s making a difference.
His latest venture is the movie “Saving Christmas,” which will show up in theaters around the U.S. this Friday, November 14th. I’d encourage you to head out during opening weekend! But, if that doesn’t work, don’t take your time – the movie will only be running for a short 2 weeks.
I expected a comedy when I watched the preview:
This Christmas, have your family join with Kirk Cameron’s family and dive headfirst into all the joy, dancing, celebration, feasting, imagination, and traditions that glorify the true “reason for the season.” KIRK CAMERON’S SAVING CHRISTMAS is an engaging story that provides a biblical basis for our time-honored traditions and celebrations, and the inspiration to stand strongly against a culture that wants to trivialize and eliminate the faith elements of this holy season. So take in the splendor; take in the majesty; take in the story. Take it all in… and let’s put Christ back in Christmas! KIRK CAMERON’S SAVING CHRISTMAS is in theaters for a limited engagement beginning November 14 for two weeks only!
If, like Kirk and me, you find yourself frustrated by the commercialism that surrounds the Christmas holiday these days, I’d really encourage you to check out this film. Support Kirk and his endeavor to “take Christmas back!”
I’ve got a nice little prize package to give away to one lucky reader.
Winner will receive:
- A SIGNED Saving Christmas movie poster (by Kirk Cameron)
- The soundtrack to the film
- A car air freshener (that smells like Christmas trees)
If you’d like to win, simply leave a comment below telling me what most frustrates you about the commercialism of the holidays. Be sure to leave your e-mail address so I can connect with you if you win. Winner will be selected at random on Friday, November 21st and notified via e-mail.
