My favorite food this week: Korean BBQ Ribs
Yak & Yeti at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Heidi Says . . .
Two years ago, I posted about the rib meal at Yak & Yeti. That meal was SO DELICIOUS and made a big impression on me because I don’t normally order ribs (due to the messiness factor). I always said that, if I ever went back to Yak & Yeti (and I sure hoped that I would), I would get the ribs again. I love trying new things at Disney; but, when I find something I really love, sometimes it’s hard to stray from it. That’s how I felt about those ribs (the entire meal, really).
So, a few weeks ago, when I was back at Walt Disney World, Suzanne and I dined at Yak & Yeti. We had both joined the Landry’s Select Club, and I’m so glad we did! We didn’t have a reservation (which we were told we didn’t need with the club); but it was pouring down rain when we went and I think everyone either left the park or went to Yak & Yeti. It was PACKED. People were waiting for over and hour. We got seated in about 20 minutes. And, as members of the Club, a manager stopped by our table on MULTIPLE times to check on us and make sure everything was good. It’s nice to be treated in such a way that you feel so special! I would highly recommend joining the Landry’s Select Club!
In any case, I ordered the ribs, not even realizing that the menu had changed. Instead of the lovely meal I had the last time, I got ribs on a bed of french fries, served on a big cutting board. It kinda surprised me because I knew I didn’t have fries the last time (I had yummy rice). And fries don’t seem the least bit Asian to me. But, the fries were really delicious, so I was trying not to be too disappointed.
I assumed the slaw was the same as what I had the first time – which was delicious – so I took a bite and it tasted dry and very strongly of cilantro (which I can’t stand). So, I sat the slaw aside and didn’t eat it.
The ribs were good – but I don’t think they were as good as the first time.
I have to admit, I was a little disappointed. But, all in the all, the meal was pretty good, we got very nice service, and we were out of the rain! Next time I go, though, I’m trying something else! I’m not sure why they changed their menu, but they should have stuck with a good thing!
