It’s been about a month since I’ve posted a list of Little Smiley Things. It’s not that I haven’t had plenty to make me smile; it’s just that I’ve been otherwise engaged lately and haven’t had a lot of time for posting on my blog. My poor little blog is suffering; but, alas, I guess it’s that time of year — the sun is shining and the world is bright green and we’ve got lots (and lots and lots) to do!
In any case, I don’t want to lose sight of the little things – the things that put a smile on my face (even in the midst of days when I’m feeling blue or grouchy – yes, I have those days!) So, here goes . . .
😀 Yesterday Ian had his regularly scheduled dentist appointment and had NO cavities. This is a HUGE cause for smiling after years and years of big dental issues and big dental bills (with no insurance). A few good reports in a row now is a real blessing. (Sure, he might have said it’s time to see the orthodontist, but we can deal with that!)
😀 We attended the homeschool convention this past weekend and made some purchases, tossed around some ideas, made some decisions, and placed some orders. I think we’re pretty much set to go for our next school year. That’s always a load off my mind.
😀 I was surprised to see one of my favorite books from my childhood on sale at the convention. I couldn’t resist buying it.
😀 Speaking of homeschooling, Gracie and Ian had their end-of-year evaluations earlier this month. Gracie had finished up her 10th grade year the night before; Ian still has a bit of 3rd grade left to finish up. But, their evaluations went well. Ian needed 3rd grade testing, which he passed with flying colors (honestly, I wasn’t sure, as he is always so resistant to doing his schoolwork!)
😀 Ashley started a full-time job this week, which has been a huge answer to prayer.
😀 We went to see Tim Hawkins a few weeks ago. If he’s not enough to make you smile, or laugh out loud, then there’s something really wrong with you! I laughed so hard that I cried at times. No matter how many times we see him, he’s still funny!
😀 I’m reading through the Bible in 90 Days (again). I had fallen a bit behind last week but was able to get all caught up today. I hate being behind. So, this is a load off my mind. I’m also serving as a mentor during this reading session, and I have a great group of readers on the journey with me. I’ve been enjoying hearing what God is showing them as they read. It’s an amazing experience, and one I’d highly recommend!
What’s making you smile?
I’d love to hear about it!
