My favorite food this week:
Serenity Bay BBQ Buffet
Castaway Cay (Disney’s private island)
Heidi Says . . .
We thoroughly enjoyed our time to Castaway Cay. In fact, I think I’d claim it as my favorite part of the cruise. It was just so relaxing and beautiful, and totally Disney! I loved everything about it (and hope to go back someday!)
We spent our morning at Serenity Bay – the adults only beach. So peaceful and relaxing! After soaking up several hours of sunshine, we decided it was time for some lunch, so we headed to the BBQ. It’s buffet style and includes the following:
- Salad & Toppings
- Tropical Fruits
From the Grill
- Hot Dogs
- Ribeye Steaks
- Rotisserie Chicken
- Cajun Mahimahi
- BBQ Pork Ribs
- Ice Cream
I shared pictures of both Brian’s plate and mine, so you could see a bit more of the food choices. We both got a burger (and, I have to say that it was one of the best burgers I think I’ve ever eaten – totally tastes like a piece of tender steak on a bun!) Brian chose traditional burger toppings for his – I decided to top mine with nothing more than some cole slaw. Oh my gosh – perfection! (For the record, I rarely eat an entire burger at a picnic – but I scarfed this one right down!)
We both grabbed some ribs – which I NEVER eat at a place like this because I can’t stand eating with my fingers. BUT, they looked really good and we were on vacation, so I made an exception. And they were quite yummy.
As far as salads, Brian went with the more traditional cole slaw and potato salad – while I opted for the cous cous salad and a tomato and cheese salad (with no tomatoes, thank you very much!)
I didn’t take a picture of it, but I had an ice cream cone for dessert (I have to say that unlimited soft serve ice cream could get dangerous for me!)
While this meal was simple picnic-food fare, we both REALLY enjoyed it. Maybe because it was a bit of an aside from the fancier food served in the ship restaurants, I don’t know. But, it was definitely delicious – and I look forward to eating here again someday.
It was Pirate Night on board the Disney Dream.
My favorite pirate is Captain Jack, so I took his advice for dinner.
Stop back next week for details!
