As a blogger, I may be compensated in some way (either pay, product, or experience) for sharing the post below All opinions are my own. ~Heidi
Being the confessed “crazy planning freak” that I am, I am always on the lookout for the “perfect planner”. I used to think that it didn’t actually exist and that, if I wanted a planner that fulfilled all my planning needs, I would have to make it on my own. And, in the past, I have gone that route.
A few years ago, I found a planner that I really liked. It had MOST of the elements that I was looking for in a planner – 2 page monthly spreads and weekly pages that were not broken down by the hour each day (I hate those!) There were other positive elements as well. But the one drawback – price! I did break down and purchase that planner for the past 2 years. Then, I found another planner that I thought I could make work for me (it wasn’t just what I wanted, but I was attempting to be frugal). I sat down with said planner the other week, only to realize that it really was targeted to the homeschool audience and that it was about 5 pages short on the weekly sections (why? I have no clue!)
In any case, it sent me on the search for the Perfect Planner once again. I contemplated spending the money on the planner I have been using; but, first, I wanted to see if there was any competition out there. I found it – and I want to introduce it to you.
In searching Pinterest for planners, I saw a picture of one that I wanted to learn more about. Clicking through links brought me to the Plum Paper Designs Etsy shop.
At first glance, I really liked what I saw. Various planner choices – regular planners, family planners, etc. and lots of beautiful cover choices! I called Ashley into the room (because I knew she was looking for a new planner as well) and we began browsing the shop more thoroughly. We both found planners that we thought would suit us; but it’s always scary making the decision to try something new. I did a search and found some positive reviews of the Plum Paper Designs planners and we decided to go for it!
Check Out My Planner!
Ashley plans to blog about her planner as well; so my post is focused entirely on my planner – the Family Planner.
Here are the things that I love about it:
This is different from my old planner in that the left-side of the 2-page monthly spread was on the back of the monthly divider page. In my old planner, the divider pages are regular paper – in this planner from Plum Paper Designs, the dividers are a heavier stock (which I love!)
See that sample from my “OLD PLANNER”? That is a picture of the first weekly spread after the August 2-page spread. Notice how the last 4 days of July are pictured there? I. HATE. THAT. When I’m planning for July, I don’t think I should have to do it behind the August tab. Maybe I’m over-the-top with my planning (ok, I AM), but still . . .
With the Plum Paper Designs Planner, this is NOT a problem. The two examples at the bottom of the above collage show the last week of July and the first week of August. Plum Paper Designs chose to use extra pages and simply “gray out” the days that are part of the next/previous month. Yay! Gotta confess, this really bumped them up on my “best planner ever” list!
And, last but certainly not least, the reason I chose the Family Planner was this:
Since experiencing an amnesia episode last year, my memory is not what it once was. I have to write EVERYTHING down or it isn’t remembered, let alone completed! This feature allows me to customize 7 fields with the things that are my top priorities – my blog, my various jobs, personal things, school, and our menu.
In addition, there are blank note sheets at the beginning and end of each month and a few extras at the back (I chose to upgrade by adding a few additional blank note pages to the back of mine as well). There are also pages for contacts, special holidays, and a 2015 quick reference calendar. Oh, an a pocket at the back too!
I’ve already started using my 2014 calendar and I’m absolutely thrilled with it! I will definitely be purchasing future planners from Plum Paper Designs!
