Welcome to the first stop aboard the Magical Blogorail. Enjoy the ride as we discuss the best shoes to wear at the Disney Parks.
Over the years, I’ve been on the hunt for the best shoes at Disney. And, I have to admit, I’ve never been a fan of the typical sneaker. I find them to be heavy and stiff and don’t allow for a lot of freedom. They certainly aren’t condusive to long days of walking in the parks. I’ve tried many different brands and varieties of sneakers over the years, only be very disappointed (and uncomfortable).
So, I thought that I’d share my favorite shoes for our Disney vacations. I’m calling this post “No-Nonsense” because there’s nothing too fancy here. But, all of these shoes are tried and true – and I’d highly recommend them.
I’ve tried various styles of Crocs over the years, but I continually find myself going back to the basic clog-style. Sure, they’re not beautiful and they aren’t going to win me any fashion awards, but they are comfortable. And, they have cutened them up a bit over the years. They’re available in a HUGE assortment of colors (and they even have Disney-themed Crocs available). If you’re suffering in the parks, head to one of the gift shops and buy yourself a pair. You can thank me later.

Skechers – Women’s Go Run
Several years ago, I started hearing about these running shoes that were really lightweight and flexible. After my experience with sneakers, I had my doubts. I did some online research and thought that the Skechers Go Runs were worth checking into. We have a Skechers outlet about an hour or so away, so I went and tried them out. Guess what? The hype was true. These sneakers are unlike any other that I’ve ever seen or tried. They are light as a feather and you can literally bend them in half (with ease). They have nice insoles too. By far, the best sneaker that I’ve ever discovered (and, truth be told, I hated Skechers in the past!) I’m on my second pair of Go Runs and I will continue to be brand loyal until they stop making them (God forbid!) They come in a variety of colors for every taste.
In the collage above, you can see me wearing my Go Runs in the picture on the left. Mine are black with purple and green accents (I love these shoes!) You can find them here: Skechers – Women’s Go Run Ultra Running Shoes – $44.95, 5.99 shipping
Skechers – Women’s Go Walk
Last Spring, Ashley and I took a job working at trade shoes. We were on our feet the better part of 3-4 days, every other weekend; so we needed some functional shoes – ones that would be comfortable yet look decent with dress pants. Knowing how much we loved the Go Runs from Skechers, the first place we went to look was the Skechers outlet to try the Go Walks. I love them for the same reasons! We each bought a pair and we recommended them to everyone we encountered who was complaining about sore feet. Our feet NEVER hurt in these shoes. Again, they come a wide variety of colors; so there’s something for everyone. And, the nice thing about these is that they look cute and not so “sneakery” (yes, I made up that word!)

Fashion Flip Flops
I know this sounds just silly, but when I feel like I want a flip-flop for the parks, these are the ones I turn to. I’ve had several pairs of them over the years; and, despite the fact that they look more “fashionable than functional” these are the most comfortable flip-flops I’ve ever owned. The soles are super squishy (which I love).
On our last trip, I found that when my feet hurt in all my other shoes, they felt half-decent (even borderlining on awesome) in these flip-flops. Weird, but true. A shoe that I can wear to church or to Walt Disney World. Works for me!
In the collage above, I’m wearing my sequined flip-flops (my black pair; I also have a silver pair) in the picture on the right. You can find them here: Yellow Box – Womens Neila Fashion Flip Flop Sandals,6.5 B(M) US,Silver – $14.99, 5.48 shipping
No matter what shoes you choose, be sure to wear them around for awhile and break them in before taking them to Disney! It’s never a good idea to take a brand new pair of shoes on vacation. What feels comfortable in the shoe store might not cut it for long days of walking in the parks. So, do some walking at home, at the mall, or wherever you like to walk and break those shoes in before your trip!
