Welcome to those of you joining me from I Am a Disney Nerd and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 3rd stop on our Magical Blogorail. Special thanks to my friends on the Blue Loop for letting me hop aboard with them this month as we share our favorite aspects of Halloween time in the parks.
Right off the bat, I’m going to admit one thing — I’m not a huge fan of Halloween. While I see nothing wrong with little kids playing dress-up and going to visit family and friends for a candy-fix (and we’ve been known to do this on occasion), I just do not like all the evil that is associated with this holiday. I hate seeing scary decorations. And it really makes me angry when I see the destruction that teenagers cause around this time every year. But, I digress . . .
Last year, the kids and I got the opportunity to visit Walt Disney World in September. This was a first for us, as we’ve always visited either in the winter months (January through March) or in May. Our trip was the first week of September, so we weren’t really expecting the parks to look different. Boy, were we in for a big surprise!
Now, I have to say that while I’m not a Halloween person, I am a huge fan of fall, the season. I adore the colors of fall (oranges, golds, greens, browns), the scents of fall (apples, pumpkins, spices), and the scenes of fall (colored leaves, pumpkins, hay bails). As much as I hate cold weather, I even enjoy getting out the jeans and sweatshirts!
We stepped into the Magic Kingdom and we were blown away!
Have you ever seen such adorable scarecrows? Me either!
And what about those jack-o-lanterns? Cute! Not scary at all. Just fun!
And those Mickey head pumpkin wreaths?! I smile every time I see a picture of them and wish I had one to hang on my front porch. I think it’s got to be one of the cutest fall decoration ever!
So, my favorite aspect of Halloween in the parks is most definitely the decorations!
