As a blogger, I may be compensated in some way (either pay, product, or experience) for sharing the post below All opinions are my own. ~Heidi
A few months ago, I shared about my experience with Yube cube storage solutions. The Yube has come in so handy in organizing my office/homeschool space by providing extra shelving space for me.
But, what about my desk? My desk area is “my” space. So, in addition to my computer and all my stuff for work and homeschool, my desk also houses a lot of my personal things as well. But, I’m getting ahead of myself . . .
Right after I shared my review of Yube, I was asked to take a look at another product from the same company.
QuickStick was developed as a better, more effective solution to ineffective old-timey suction-based “hooks” and very messy “Command”-like products that will stick for a while but lose grip over time. The advantage of QuickStick’s technology is that you can restick it again and again!
I was attracted to the bright colors of the hooks and the interesting designs. But, they just sat here beside my desk for several months.
Why? Because I couldn’t decide what I wanted to do with them. I wanted to use them to help organize my desk space – but, the problem was, I had no idea how or for what. So, I waited. And contemplated.
Over the past few months, I’ve gradually added the hooks to my desk. I’m finally prepared to share my QuickSticks with you. I think I’ve come up with some non-traditional uses for them; but it’s what works for me.
As stated in my Yube review, we live in an old house. Not only is it lacking in storage, but it’s lacking in electrical outlets. So, as a result, we have extension cords EVERYWHERE. It’s annoying, to say the least. So, I used the first hook to hang on the doorframe beside my desk to keep an extension cord out of the way.
The cord is now up off the floor and we’ve eliminated a tripping hazard. (Some of us may have tripped on it, yes.)
I had a lot of little things taking up space on my desk’s flat surfaces. I wanted to use some of the QuickSticks to eliminate this problem and create more space for other things.
I got that cute little frame filled with Bible verse cards from my church for Mother’s Day. I wanted to display it somewhere that I would see it every day and could be encouraged by the verses; so, as you can see, it’s hanging on the back of my desk, right beside my computer screen.
The other hook is holding all my many 16GB drives. I keep all my pictures on these, so it’s important to keep them handy to my computer. Now they are within arms reach and can be easily grabbed and inserted into one of my computer’s USB connections.
I always like to have at least 2 pairs of sunglasses – a black pair and a brown pair. And I like to keep them on my desk so I can grab my purse and whichever pair of glasses matches best that day. But, they were laying on the top of my desk, which tends to get cluttered as I throw things up there, and I’m always afraid they’re going to get knocked down or scratched. I don’t want to just leave them in the van, because I often drive Brian’s car or hang out with Ashley in hers.
The other day, it finally hit me . . . I could use QuickSticks as Sunglass Holders!
Cool, huh? I’m thrilled! The hanger keeps the glasses away from the side of my desk just enough that the lenses aren’t touching (so they have no chance of getting scratched). My glasses are out of the way – hanging in an area of my desk that doesn’t really get touched otherwise; yet they are within easy reach to grab and go.
Yes, I may be feeling just a little bit clever with this one!
I’m at a stage in my life where I don’t wear my glasses around the house much at all. I do like to have them when we’re watching TV, but when I’m working at my desk I don’t need them. So, the problem that arises is that I tend to take them off and just lay them anywhere. Then, later, when I go to look for them, I can’t find them.
Just yesterday, I got the idea to use one of the Tool Holders for my glasses. I hung it right beside my computer, so I can easily reach for them when I do need them, they’re out of the way when I don’t need them, yet I can always find them!
As you can tell by looking at the pictures I’ve shared, the QuickSticks hooks are on a large square piece of sticky plastic, so they are really easy to peel off and move. The perfectionist in me loves that because if I get one hanging a little crooked, I can easily peel it off and restick it.
Be sure to check out the QuickSticks website to see some of the clever uses for QuickSticks that they are displaying (such as using the small Tool Holders on the bathroom mirror for toothbrushes).
QuickSticks are very affordable ($5.99 for a pack of 3 Hooks). I have to admit that I hate when I find something that is really cool and I want to share it with my readers, but I find the price to be higher than I think it should be . QuickSticks are cheap! You can buy lots of them. You can organize your whole home with these things!
In addition to the fun, bright colors that I received, they are also available in black, white, silver, and clear. So if you’re looking for something a bit less obvious, these more neutral colors should fit the bill.
