They say time flies when you’re having fun, right? I guess we’re having fun then because I can’t believe it’s been 3 weeks since my last post! I’m slipping!
Really, though, I feel like we haven’t done that much where Thi is concerned. I really hoped that we’d have time to do more fun stuff, but school kinda gets in the way of that most of the time.
Since my last report, we have figured out a “work around” for the financial issues we were experiencing. When Thi needs cash, we just run his card through my Square, deduct the fees, and give him the money. This has saved a lot of stress on all of our parts – especially his, as I know he was getting frustrated not having any cash on hand for things.
We got a new roof put on our house a few weeks ago and, while Thi was in school during most of the work times, he was interested in learning about the types of roofs we have here in the USA, and how they compare to roofing materials back home in Vietnam.
On October 21st, he experienced his first orchestra performance as we all went to see Gracie perform with the Millersville Orchestra. (He might as well get used to this as orchestra is what our family does – especially now that Ian is in the homeschool orchestra this year as well!)
I’m pretty sure his favorite subject at school is Drawing. Some of his artwork is quite impressive and I’m seeing real improvement too! The other day he showed me a picture that he took of Gabe and he’s working on drawing that as well. Hopefully that will be something we can frame.
Brian’s also been taking him to Open Gym sessions at the high school a few evenings a week. He’s hoping to play basketball, though we both have our misgivings about it for various reasons. We’ll see how things go. We have told him that we will insist that he finishes what he starts, so we’re trying to come to an agreement that works best for all of us.
We have a local family who decorates their yard so fun for the holidays. I knew Thi would get a kick out of it, so we drove by one evening last week to show him the Halloween decorations. He was much impressed. (I was too, quite frankly!) Anyone who takes the time to put up all these decorations and set them to music … well, they’re pretty amazing in my book!
We are all starting to get excited about our upcoming trip to Florida and we purchased 2-day tickets to Walt Disney World the other day. We plan to visit Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. I’m excited for Thi to see Disney, especially at Christmastime.
The next few weeks should be a bit more eventful as Thi has some time off school, we have some upcoming family holidays, and he has his Senior Class Trip to Washington DC. So, hopefully, I’ll have some more exciting posts to share.
In the meantime, I think we may finally be settling into a groove around here.
