Several years ago – in what I like to call my “previous life” – I was asked to review some homemade skincare products from a new family-run homeschool business. I went into that review with some skepticism, but was immediately impressed with the high quality of the products. My review published just before the Christmas selling season, helping to generate some sales for the family.
A few months later, I had opportunity to meet the couple behind Virginia Soaps & Scents (Roy & Richelle Spargur) at the first ever GHC convention in Cincinnati. We had an instant connection with each other. And, over the years, we always make a point to stop and visit at homeschool conventions – to chat and catch up on each other’s lives – and we even had opportunity to spend a day with the family in Williamsburg, VA. I’m proud to call them not just business associates but friends.
Since CHAP (PA’s homeschool convention) is always held the weekend of Mother’s Day, my mom usually receives a handmade gift from the Virginia Soaps & Scents booth. And, as is always the case, Ashley and I cannot resist treating ourselves to their newest products!
I wanted to take a moment to introduce you to some of our new favorites . . .
Ashley was immediately taken with the Brown Sugar & Vanilla Scrub. It smelled really good, and made our hands feel very smooth and moisturized. We ended up leaving the convention with 3 containers of it – one for each of us (so we wouldn’t fight over it) and another as a spare.
Normally, we purchase soap products for my mom – but they are just so pretty that she refuses to use them! We wanted to buy her something more practical this year, so we settled on the Whipped Moisture Cream and made her promise to use it. (We bought one for ourselves too!) Recently, my mom told me that she’s been using – and loving – the cream. I agree! I’ve been using it on my face at night with great results!
But, the item that really caught my attention this time was the Rosemary & Mint Clay Facial Mask. One whiff of it, and I knew there was no doubt it would be coming home with me. I’m so glad it did! This mask comes in a powder form and you just mix a little bit of it with water before use. (You can also mix it with other things, such as milk – but I haven’t tried that yet.) I’ve used it, faithfully, once per week (as Richelle suggested) since the convention. I love it! It’s rather wet when you apply it, but it hardens as you allow it to sit. It smells strongly of mint (which is a scent I love) and it has this cooling sensation that makes me feel that it is quite obviously doing its job.
I’d love to hear about your favorite skincare products.
NOTE: I was in no way obligated to write this post. I purchased these products of my own free will, I have used them and enjoyed them, and I feel they are worthy of sharing with my readers. All photos used in this post are ©VA Soaps & Scents.
