It’s time for another round of Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia!
For the month of June, I’ve decided to share trivia about one of my favorite lands in the Magic Kingdom – Liberty Square. Be sure to stop back each Tuesday for more Liberty Square trivia. *This month’s trivia tidbits come from Lou Mongello’s The Walt Disney World Trivia Book: Secrets, History & Fun Facts Behind the Magic (Volume 1) – previously reviewed on my blog here.
In The Haunted Mansion, when the room with portraits on the wall appears to “stretch,” what is actually happening?
a.) the floor lowers
b.) the ceiling rises
c.) nothing – it is an optical illusion
d.) the room moves clockwise
The answer to this question actually depends on which park you are visiting!
If you are in the WDW Haunted Mansion, the ceiling of both of it’s two “stretching rooms” moves upwards. However, if you visit The Haunted Mansion in Disneyland, the room is actually a large elevator that takes you down one level. Why the difference? In Disneyland, the elevator was created out of necessity, to take guests under the railroad tracks! That wasn’t necessary at WDW, but the effect was so popular in Disneyland that the Imagineers decided to include it in the WDW Mansion.
I don’t know about you, but I’m very glad they did! (This piece of trivia was confirmed during our Keys to the Kingdom Tour as well!)
