I have been happy to share my thoughts on the series of DVD’s based on Janette Oke’s book When Calls the Heart. We have really been enjoying watching the movies, especially since we don’t have cable tv and missed them on the Hallmark Channel. Most recently, we had opportunity to check out “When Calls the Heart – The Dance”.
New miners arrive in Coal Valley in preparation for the reopening of the mine. One of the new miners, BILLY HAMILTON, takes a special interest in Elizabeth and Jack becomes suspicious of Billy’s intentions. Meanwhile Coal Valley is abuzz regarding the annual “Miner’s Games” as Jack continues to worry about the budding relationship between Elizabeth and Billy. During all the festivities pregnant widow CARLA NOONAN has complications arise in her pregnancy.

I have loved each movie in this series so far, but I think this one might have been my favorite. Maybe it’s because I’m starting to feel a real connection with the characters and I find myself cheering them on. Each movie builds upon the one before, but could easily be watched as a stand-alone. I’m enjoying adding to our collection, and know we will watch this series over and over again in the years to come.
It’s hard to find good, family-friendly entertainment these days, so Kudos to Director Michael Landon Jr., Writer/Producer Brian Bird, and Word Entertainment for creating this series.
