I just received a beautiful book that I wanted to share with you. It’s called Whispers of Hope and it’s written by one of my favorites – Beth Moore. Before I get into my thoughts . . .
About the Book
Best-selling author Beth Moore addresses these practical and pervasive matters in Whispers of Hope by walking readers through an easy to remember and apply method of prayer, coupled with seventy daily devotionals and followed by prompts to put this prayer method into practice.
Indeed, Whispers of Hope teaches the manifestation process of powerful Word-saturated prayer in response to a daily Bible reading. In turn, you will better understand how devotional reading and prayer are central to a stronger relationship with God.
About the Author
Beth Moore is a writer and teacher of best-selling books and Bible studies whose public speaking engagements carry her all over the United States. A dedicated wife and mother of two adult daughters, Moore lives in Houston, Texas, where she is president and founder of Living Proof Ministries.
Heidi Says . . .
Normally, I don’t write a review of a book until AFTER I’ve read it. I’m making an exception in this case. I think you’ll understand why as I go on to describe this book . . .
First of all, when your eyes first make contact with this book, you will immediately notice that it’s of high quality. It’s not your typical paperback book – it’s more “up-scale”. The cover wraps around and creates a flap on both the inside front and back. These are great, because they double as a bookmark to hold your place (I love that because I’m always grabbing any old scrap of paper to mark my place).
You know how old books look ragged along the edges? You pick one up and you just know there’s something special about that book – it’s a classic! Guess what? Whispers of Hope is bound to be a classic because it’s pages are just like that!
The reason why I am posting about this book BEFORE reading it is because it takes a 70-day commitment. Whispers of Hope is a 10 week study on devotional prayer.
Now, I have a confession: I am NOT a prayer warrior. But, I’m envious of my friends who are. And I want to be one! I can think of NOONE that I’d rather have teaching me about prayer than Beth Moore. Just listening to that woman pray takes me to another place – a place very close to God. A place that I want to be.
I’m going to be away for several days in the month of December, so I’m planning to put this book aside and dig into it – full force- when I get home.
Whispers of Hope contains 70 Daily Devotionals. Each is one page and contains a brief Bible reading assignment, a Scripture for the day, and thoughts of the day. Each is just one page, so it’s short and simple to read, but profound.
Each day’s devotional is followed up by a Daily Prayer Guide. Detailed instructions on how to use these pages is included in the book’s introduction.
The back of the book even contains some pages to record Answered Prayers.
I’m looking forward to starting this prayer journey with Beth Moore. If the desire of your heart is to draw closer to God through prayer, then I’d highly encourage you to pick up this book and join in the journey with me!
